Writer Young-wook Jung, known to be Korea’s Sarah Kane, meets director Saemi Moon, who is known for her unconventional depth.
Jung conveys unique and unparalleled color in her writing with the unusual language and form she chooses to use. She writes about social inequality, human alienation, lonely deaths, environmental pollution, economic polarization, and natural disasters—all deeply tragic realities that affect humanity. These issues are chaotic and painful to see, but are uncomfortable realities that we as humans must face. In order to successfully deliver her profound plays to the audience, a precise and exquisite stage dialect is needed. Director Saemi Moon, who had her debut in theater after studying in the UK, has been highly regarded for the way she creates exuberant stage dialect without restricting the play’s language.
